The Shubenacadie Canal Commission was formed just over 25 years ago, by an Act of the NS Legislature introduced in 1986 by the Hon. Rollie J Thornhill. The stated objective at that time was to “oversee and further promote the Shubenacadie Canal System”.Learn More.
The Shubenacadie Waterway system is filled with fun activities here in Nova Scotia. We are proud to have Nova Scotia’s finest paddling route spanning 114kms. You can explore fantastic parks, trails and more. You can find some of the BEST camp grounds along this route as well. We invite you to explore the communities beyond the canal.Learn more.

The Avery Room features big, beautiful wood beams and a stunning view of Shubie Park. Tech ready and accessible; this space is perfect for groups of 40-60 people.
